Treatment of MS

Researchers are still trying to find a cure for MS. Currently, depending on the type of MS a person has there are medications available that:

  1. Help reduce the symptoms of MS.
  2. Reduce the length and severity of an acute MS attack.  Usually intravenous or oral steroids are given for a specific period of time.
  3. Aim to reduce the number of MS attacks a person has. These medications are taken long term and are called, Disease Modifying Therapies (DMTs). They are only effective for Relapsing Remitting types of MS.
